"They've gotta be happy and healthy - totally.
And then we're going to go racing!" ~ Ken Davis, 2009
Congratulations to Ken Davis who received a gold medal from the International Sleddog Racing Association in 2014 - 2015 in the Adult Sled / 4 Dog Speed division! He has also received abronze medal for the 4 dog team from ISDRA in 2012 - 2013, as well as a silver medal for the 6 dog team and a bronze medal for the 4 dog team with ISDRA for dryland racing, 2010 - 2011!
Ask kennel owner Ken Davis about his dogs and he begins to smile. He refers to them as his guys and girls. They are all part of a team.
Primarily a sprint racing kennel, Elfstone has been going strong for eighteen years. What started out as a hobby has become a full-time job - and Ken wouldn't have it any other way.
His racing crew is comprised of 23 dogs, all Alaskan Huskies and Pointer crosses. Elfstone Kennel has also taken on an international flair of sorts - Ken is a former coach and host to members of the Jamaica Dogsled Team!
April 7, 2015: Ken was quoted in the Sports Illustrated article "Born to Run: Sprint sled-dog racing is fast and furry-ous" by Brion O'Connor.
